Morsels from Meals Sept 2023

Morsels from MOWNF

Well, fall is here, even though it feels more like summer than August did.  That means it is time to begin preparing for the cold months ahead.  I will be updating the Call-em-all app so please make sure I have your correct phone number.  For those of you who weren’t with us last winter, this app allows me to send out a voice or text message to all volunteers and clients in case of a weather closing or other emergency situation.   Emergency meal packs will all be going out to all clients in early November.  We may need extra help to deliver them.

·        MOWNF recently received a grant to help facilitate social connections in an effort to curb loneliness and isolation in the population we serve.  We will be reaching out to our clients to determine how we can best meet their needs and will structure a program based on responses.  Down the road, we will be asking for volunteers to be involved in various ways from cellphone calls to activities.  Watch for further info soon.

·        Due to unforeseen circumstances, we will NOT be holding the October Lottery Drawing.  If you have sold any tickets, please refund the money.

·        We currently need volunteers to help in the kitchen on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  Drivers are needed on Monday and Wednesday.  Substitutes for both positions are also needed.

Volunteer Appreciation

Raymour and Flanigan on Niagara Falls Blvd. is hosting a volunteer appreciation breakfast for MOWNF volunteers on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at their Niagara Falls store.  This is a community event thrown by the company and will feature a continental breakfast from 10am to 12 noon along with a donation to our organization.  It would be wonderful to have as many of our volunteers show up as possible.  We are very grateful that they have chosen our organization to be showcased.
